Housing Suggestions On occasion the Admissions Office receives calls from people looking for roommates, or who wish to sub-lease rooms or apartments. Once you have sent in an application, let us know that you are looking for housing and we can assist by giving you any available housing leads. Good luck and let us know if we can help!!! Many of our students have used these services, and been very happy with the results. Other roommate services are listed in The Village Voice, The New York Times, and Newsday (see below). NEWSPAPERS/CLASSIFIEDS/WEBSITES The Village Voice Newsday The New York Times These newspapers have good listings for both Manhattan and the surrounding boroughs. You may also want to place an ad to find a roommate or exchange situation. This works best if done in advance. In addition, www.craigslist.org has short term housing listings as well as opportunities to place an ad to find a housing situation. Make sure to click onto “New York City”. WOMEN’S RESIDENCES Women’s residences provide small, furnished rooms and do not have cooking facilities. Many provide linens, a light breakfast, and dinner. These are within walking distance of the school and will save about $60 per month in subway fares. The Markle Evangeline The Webster
YMCA and YWHA De Hirsh Residence (YWHA) Vanderbilt YMCA West Side YMCA The De Hirsh Residence is a nice residence, even though it isn’t as close as some of the women’s residences. We recommend the Mc Burney YMCA more for a place to exercise – you can get a student discount. STUDENT HOUSING The Riverside Inn The Riverside Inn is a refurbished Euro-style hotel located on Manhattan’s exciting upper west side. It is a 6-story elevator building with 24 hr. reception/security. Rooms are affordable, newly decorated & fully furnished. Suites of private rooms share a full kitchen & bathrooms. A refrigerator is also available in each room. The Morningside Inn The Morningside Inn, sister inn to the Riverside, is a 6-story elevator building. Rooms are newly renovated, affordable & fully furnished. Suites of private rooms share a full kitchen & bathrooms (some rooms have a private bathroom). A refrigerator is also available in each room.
